چکیده

We compare the effects of interactive and noninteractive complementary nutrients on the growth of an organism in the chemostat. We also compare these two situations to the case when the nutrients are substitutable. In previous studies, complementary nutrients have been assumed to be noninteractive. However, more recent research indicates that some complementary nutrient relationships are interactive. We show that interactive complementary and substitutable nutrients can lead to higher population densities than do noninteractive complementary nutrients. We numerically illustrate that if the washout rate is high, an organism can persist at higher densities when the complementary nutrients are interactive than when they are noninteractive, which can result in the extinction of the organism. Finally, we present an example by making a small adjustment to the model that leads to a single nutrient model with an intermediate metabolite of the original substrate as the nutrient for the organism.

Cybernetic Modeling and Regulation of Metabolic Pathways . Growth on Complementary Nutrients

Microbial growth requires the presence of several complementary nutrients within the growth medium. Each of these nutrients supplies a different nutritional requirement, e.g., carbon or nitrogen. Furthermore, nutrients that supply the same nutritional requirement, i.e., substitutable nutrients or (substrates), may also be present. As the limiting substrate is altered, a microorganism's internal...

تأثیر سطوح مختلف نیتروژن، پتاسیم و منیزیم بر عملکرد و شاخص‌های رشد گیاه توت‌فرنگی در محیط کشت هیدروپونیک

To study the effects of different levels of N, K and Mg on yield and growth indices of strawberry, a factorial experiment with completely randomized design and three replications was performed. Treatments included three levels of N (110, 220 and 330 mg/L), three levels of K (120, 240 and 360 mg/L) and three levels of Mg (12, 24 and 48 mg/L) that were applied to strawberry (cv. Gavita) in a hydr...

Plant growth promoting bacteria effects on growth, photosynthetic pigments and root nutrients uptake of Avena sativa L. under drought stress

Drought stress is one of the most important factors affecting plant growth. Plant growth under drought stress may be enhanced by the application of microbial inoculation including plant growth promoting rhizobacteria. This research was conducted as a factorial experiment in a completely randomized design. The first factor included the bio-fertilizer (A. vinelandii (A)), P. agglomerans+ P. ...

Salinity Effects on Mineral Nutrients and Performance of Turnip (Brassica Rapa L.) at Different Growth Stages

In order to study the effects of different salinity levels on turnip (Brassica rapa L.), an investigation was conducted at Yasouj University, Iran, in 2010. The effects of four salinity levels including 1.92, 9.87, 19.6 and 21.94 ds m-1 (20:1 ratio of NaCl: CaCl2 in Hoagland solution) on germination, vegetative and maturity stages of turnip (Baherghan landrace) were investigated. The results re...
